“Journey to the West” (西游记) is one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature, written in the 16th century during the Ming dynasty, traditionally attributed to Wu Cheng’en.

It’s a fantastical and allegorical tale that combines mythology, Buddhism, Daoism, satire, and adventure, centered on the pilgrimage of the monk Tang Sanzang (Tripitaka) from China to India to obtain sacred Buddhist scriptures.

  5. White Dragon Horse – A dragon prince who serves as Tripitaka’s steed.

  3. The Journey – A series of 81 trials and tribulations as they travel westward, fighting demons and learning moral/spiritual lessons.
